　2009年春にアメリカで封切られるドキュメンタリー、『オブジェクティファイド』。デザインが生まれる瞬間、デザインしたときに何が起きたか、ここに迫る映画だ。ニューヨークでお世話になっていた工業デザイナー、Gary Natsumeさんも、この映画に注目しているとのことだ。

　登場するデザイナーやプロダクトはどれも知っているモノばかり。BMW、iPod、無印良品、ケータイなど、もしかしたら自分が使っているプロダクトのデザインの裏側を聴けるかもしれません。そしてやはり興味があるのは、なぜそれが生み出されたのか、生み出したとき、デザイナーは何を感じたのか。日本での上映やDVD発売にも期待しましょう。

Objectified is a feature-length independent documentary about industrial design. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability. It’s about our relationship to mass-produced objects and, by extension, the people who design them.
